Specific Admission Requirements | : | Application, Admission, and Registration to Master's Program (1) Rules concerning student acceptance: a.Having an Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam score (ALES)taken within the last three years and candidates must have taken at least 55 quantitative points from ALES, b.A certificate of equivalence must be obtained from the Higher Education Board for the citizens of Republic of Turkey if candidates completed their undergraduate study (BSc) abroad. (2) Evaluation Criteria for Applicants, a. Entrance Score; 60 % of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES), 20 % of Graduation Cumulative General Point Average (CGPA), 10 % of Written Exam 10 % of Foreign Language Proficiency Exam's Result, depending upon the demand of the department. b. Candidates must have a score showing their level of Foreign Language. Candidates should either possess a score in the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDS) or an equivalent score that is accepted by the Interuniversity Board. If the candidates do not have any valid English Proficiency Exam Score, evaluation will be scored as zero for the Foreign Language Part. c. Applicants will be admitted to the program according to the ranking quota if the applicants' overall score is 50 or higher. d. Scientific Competence Exam is offered in written form. The evaluation is out of 100. e. Unless applicants attend in written exam, they will fail. f. If any two of the candidates have the same score in their overall performance, the one having a higher score in Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) will be admitted, in case of having the same ALES scores, then the one having a higher CGPA will be accepted and if two candidates still have the same CGPA scores, then, finally the one having a higher score from English Proficiency Exam will be admitted to the program. |
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | : | Those who have graduated or completed their undergraduate studies at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University might be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related laws. If the content(s) of the course(s) previously taken in another institution, having provided that the course(s) is/are equivalent to the course(s) offered at COMU, then the candidates might be exempted from the course(s) with the approval of the related faculty/institute evaluation. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading | : | The success of students in achieving the expected learning outcomes of each course unit within the curriculum of academic programs is evaluated via assessments of in-term activities ( midterm exam, practice/application, special course internship artwork placement, seminar, Project, assignment/homework, laboratory, etc.,) and final or make-up examination and which takes place at the end of each semester. The contribution of assessment grades of the in-term activities to the final grade is 40% and that of the final exam is 60% for all the course units (excluding work-placement) within all degree programs defined by the Regulations. For each course taken at COMU, the student is given one of the letter grades below by the instructor as the semester course grade. These students are accepted as SUCCESSFUL students. The GPA of a student is his/her graduation grade point average at the same time. The first, second, and third ranking students in each program/department at which they are registered in accordance with their Grade Point Average (GPA) are accepted as HONOR students on condition that they took all the courses in one academic year, met the requirement of school attendance, passed all the courses with CC at the least, and received no disciplinary punishment. These students are awarded with Certificate of Achievement by the related Dean's Office/Directorate at the end of the academic year. Students who complete their education at the school they are registered with the first rank in accordance with their GPA are accepted as HIGH HONOR students of the faculty/school/vocational school on condition that they took all the courses within the normal study period, met the requirement of school attendance, passed all the courses with CC at the least, and received no disciplinary punishment. These students are awarded by the Rectorate with Certificate of Appreciation as being high honor students of their faculty/school/vocational school. |
