Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading | : | The success of students in achieving the expected leaning outcomes of the each course unit within the curriculum of academic programmes is evaluated via assessments of in-term activities ( midterm exam, practice/application, special course internship atworkplacement, seminar, Project, assignment/homework, laboratory, etc.,) and final or make-up examination and which takes place at the end of each semester. The contribution of assessment grades of the in-term activities to the final grade is 40% and that of the final exam is 60% for all for all the course units (excluding workplacement) within all degree programmes defined by the Regulations. For each course taken at COMU, the student is given one of the letter grades below by the instructor as the semester course grade. Each grade has also its as ECTS grade equivalent The table below provides the detailed information about the local letter grades, coefficients and ECTS grade equivalents. These students are accepted as SUCCESSFUL students. The GPA of a student is his/her graduation grade point average at the same time. The first, second and third ranking students in each program/department at which they are registered in accordance with their Grade Point Average (GPA) are accepted as HONOR students on condition that they took all the courses in one academic year, met the requirement of school attendance, passed all the courses with CC at the least, and received no disciplinary punishment. These students are awarded with Certificate of Achievement by the related Dean's Office/Directorate at the end of the academic year. Students who complete their education at the school they are registered with the first rank in accordance with their GPA are accepted as HIGH HONOR students of the faculty/school/vocational school on condition that they took all the courses within the normal study period, met the requirement of school attendance, passed all the courses with CC at the least, and received no disciplinary punishment. These students are awarded by the Rectorate with Certificate of Appreciation as being high honor students of their faculty/school/vocational school. |
Graduation Requirements | : | The students attending this thirdd cycle program with thesis are required: to take a minimum of 7 courses with a minimum of 21 local credits, Passing the proficiency exam, Preparing and defending a doctoral thesis, to succeed in all the courses with a letter grade of at least CB to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.00/4.00 with a minimum of 60 ECTS credits. The student must have fulfilled the thesis and publication requirements in order to take the thesis defense exam. |
